Tests ordered by our doctors, or nurses:
When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please allow sufficient time to have passed before calling the surgery to enquire about results. If you have had multiple tests, then it is better to wait until they have all been reported on before requesting an appointment.
Please note that you will not be contacted if your result is normal - we will contact you by telephone (text or call), or by letter, only if a result is abnormal and you require treatment or further investigations.
We strongly recommend our patients register for your GP record online access to view results online without calling the surgery. If you do need to call us to check your results, please call after 11.00am.
Our receptionists can look in your medical record and if the result has come back as normal, they will be able to let you know. However, if the doctor or nurse needs to see you to discuss the results of the test, our receptionists will book you a telephone appointment with the doctor or nurse.
Tests ordered by the hospital:
If your test has been requested by a specialist clinic or hospital please call the relevant clinic or hospital for the result, as we cannot see tests which have been requested by other clinicians outside of the surgery.
Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection, we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate to unless that person has given written consent or has power of attorney in place for the results to be given to the patient’s guardian.
When you take your test, you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice. It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if you are advised to do so.
Did you know that you can view test results (e.g. blood tests) though the NHS App?
To view your test results, you simply need to login to your GP records online through NHS App. You will then be able to see results from any tests carried out from that point.

The results will become available once they are checked and filed to your record by a GP.
We recommend leaving a week after the sample was taken to allow for this.
