How to get Proxy Access
What is proxy access?
Proxy access was developed to allow someone other than the patient to access and manage parts of their GP online services account.
You can now apply for proxy access for children, relatives and dependants that you care for using NHS App.
This enables a parent, family member or carer to act on behalf of the patient with their access tailored accordingly.
The proxy feature has gone through rigorous analysis to ensure there are no data privacy risks.
This provides access to the person's online account for:
- book and view appointments
- order medication
- access to medical records
Proxy access on behalf of children
People with parental responsibility for children have rights to access their children’s records. Not all parents have parental responsibility.
Proxy access for a parent and or guardian to access a child’s GP online record is a practice-level decision.
Parental responsibility proxy access will finish when a child reaches aged 11 – after this age and up to aged 13, parental access is determined on yearly.
At the age of 13 patients can attend the surgery without an accompanying adult/parent(s) if they so wish and therefore all parental access is removed.
Please come into surgery to request the Proxy access forms.

Security
We take the security of your information very seriously. By working with Egton, the company that provides the computer systems for our practice, we can ensure that the information you provide when using the online services portal is protected. All communications with the Egton web site are encrypted, using the same high security that major banks use for their internet transactions (128 bit SSL). Only you can see the personal information you enter.
The web site is administered at a remote high-security site managed by Egton, not at the practice, so there is no possibility of unauthorised access. Using the most up-to-date version of your web browser also improves security of information. Remember to close the browser after use, especially if someone else could access your computer.
